Lost Song 07:45
once there was a road toward the corner of my open eye you found the way without a light and ploughing on beyond an autumn all but shed and left behind a plea upon my open mind please don’t be so kind i have only come to draw the blinds and, as in drawing, shadows climbed the walls that you had painted white i urged you not to close your eyes then un-gloved un-shy wrapped my hand around a cactus’ spines and though glochidia burrow still beneath the skin of my palm none remain above to claim that i had held it at all
4.
Carrying 06:17
how about the love i could have had for you you without a name in spite of all you put me through i cannot recall you being torn from me i had gotten high and i was fast asleep having no dreams mother sends me flowers when my baby dies crying on the phone instead of looking in her eyes though she would have liked to see me see you through mother understands it’s what i had to do but i still don’t know if that’s true
5.
Gardens 09:59
undesiring gardens if they only bloom at night i was wondering would you like to see me in the light i was offering what it was i thought you thought was right and you’d come 'round as i was leading all the horses out to run slowed down when i caught an inflammation of the lung and i know now i wasn’t offering myself in whole to anything or anyone undesiring fire if any closer than my own nightly lightning i would watch it wide-eyed in my boat cliffside calling i had never felt so close and yet so far from home will you come 'round i am leading all the horses to the pond look deep and see how the water and the earth have formed a gorgeous mud and i’ll dive down gathering what i can but feel the water take it back as i swim up
6.
tell me what you want give me a chance to find it in me and to maybe give you some of what i’ve got
7.
Horses 11:53
the sky tonight’s so deep and clear I could just disappear I close my eyes and feel I’m near but I’m still stuck out here I want to dive into a pool of water deep and cool and when I rise into the air I want to see you there I tear an orange into two I say i’m here for you you tear an orange into three what do you want from me and if you think I see the road we are on together a ribbon wide and clear that goes stretching out forever how am I now to make you know it’s not what I’m after my only want is to be close until we pull over so you go on and on your own I know you don’t need my help I’ll think of you when I’m alone until there’s something else I sleep alone and in the light here in my haven I dream of horses every night I can’t contain them
